Early Rebleeding after Internal Trapping of a Ruptured Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysm: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
aneurysms of the vertebrobasilar system has been reported to account for 4.5% of intracranial SAH (1). Since ruptured VA dissecting aneurysms are associated with a higher incidence of rebleeding (2, 3), early diagnosis and treatment are required (4). Due to its lower invasiveness and good outcomes, endovascular treatment has been considered an alternative treatment modality for ruptured VA dissecting aneurysms (5-7). Concomitant occlusion of the dissecting aneurysm and the parent artery with detachable coils (internal trapping) is considered a fairly effective treatment method for VA dissecting aneurysms in their acute stage(4), with a high success rate and a low complication rate(4, 7). Here we present a case of early rebleeding from a vertebral dissecting aneurysm after internal trapping, along with a literature review.

Rebleeding from a vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm after endovascular internal trapping: adverse effect of intrathecal urokinase injection or incomplete occlusion?-case report-.
A 67-year-old woman suffered rebleeding from a ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm after endovascular internal trapping. The dissecting aneurysm was initially successfully occluded with the affected vertebral artery using detachable coils. However, rebleeding from the aneurysm occurred on the next day. The rebleeding may have resulted from the thrombolytic effect of urokinase, which w...

BACKGROUND Internal trapping in which the dissecting aneurysm is occluded represents reliable treatment to prevent rebleeding of ruptured vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysms. Various methods of internal trapping are available, but which is most appropriate for preventing both recanalization of the VA and procedural complications is unclear. CASE DESCRIPTION A 61-year-old male presented...
متن کاملSurgical treatment for ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms.
We analyze 20 cases of ruptured vertebral artery dissecting aneurysms and discuss the best choices for the surgical procedure. The preoperative Hunt and Kosnik grade was I in nine cases, Ia in four cases, II in three cases, III in three cases, and IV in one case. Rebleeding occurred in six cases, in four cases within 24 hours after the initial bleeding, and in every case within 6 days. In two c...
متن کاملVertebral artery dissecting aneurysm rebleeding after proximal occlusion--case report.
A 38-year-old male presented with vertebral artery dissecting aneurysm manifesting as subarachnoid hemorrhage. An attempt at trapping the aneurysm failed, so the vertebral artery could only be clipped proximally. Rebleeding occurred, resulting in death, probably due to excessive length of the dissection requiring thrombosis and/or retrograde dissection due to back pressure from the contralatera...
متن کاملAntegrade Recanalization of Parent Artery after Internal Trapping of Ruptured Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysm
We report a patient with a ruptured vertebral artery (VA) dissecting aneurysm that was treated by internal trapping of the aneurysm and parent artery using detachable coils with subsequent antegrade recanalization of occluded vertebral artery during the follow-up period. A 38-year-old man was admitted with a ruptured right VA dissecting aneurysm just distal to origin of right posterior inferior...
